First School Day of 2009

What a fantastic day! I loved every minute with my new class. We've been really busy today finding more out about how we learn best. We learnt about the ways we can be smart (multiple intelligences). We did a SMARTS survey, read the Rainbow fish, then learnt more about skinny and fat questions. We used a T Chart to classify the two types of questions.

A T-Chart is used to compare stuff. Its called a T-chart because you make a line going across the top of the page, and a line down the middle of the page, and it looks like a T

Multiple Intelligences (Smarts)
Self Smart (Intra-personal)
Nature Smart (Naturalistic)
Picture Smart (Spatial)
Body Smart (Kinaesthetic)
Word Smart (Linguistic)
Number/Reasoning Smart (Logical)
People Smart (Interpersonal)
Music Smart (Musical)

We read and discussed a motivational poem called 'The Bottom Line'.
Read this poem and see what you think.

Poem: The Bottom Line
Face It.
Nobody owes you a living,
what you achieve or fail to achieve in your lifetime
is directly related to what you do or fail to do.
No one chooses his parents or childhood
but you can choose your own direction.
Everyone has problems and obstacles to overcome,
but that too is relative to each individual.
Excuses Are For Losers:
those who take responsibility for their actions
are the real winners in life.
Winners meet life's challenge head on,
knowing there are no guarantees,
and give it all they've got.
Never think it's too late or too early to begin,
time plays no favourite and will pass whether you act or not.
Take Control Of Your Life!
Dare to dream and take risk. compete...
If you aren't willing to work for your goals,
don't expect others to ...
BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!
