Steaming and roaring

Hot red and orange lava

Rarely exploding!

rumbling and steaming

squirting lava and rock balls

the ground is shaking

The Magic Box

I will put in my box…
A cowboy on a flying white Pegasus
The scarlet flowers from a lovely spring day
The deepest craters on mars
And a strip of the brightest sun light.

My box is made from…
The hinges are made from the bones of a pterodactyl
The lid is made of the horns of a unicorn
And the sides are made from a rainbow fishes gills.

I will dig for gold and play for hours in my box.

How Popcorn Kernels Turn Into Popcorn

There is a tiny bit of water in the kernel that heats up and steams and tries to boil, but the hull traps it in there. When the pressure gets too great, the kernel turns inside out and turns into popcorn. (diagram included in published copy) Jamie (Year 3)
