Brain photos from Flickr

The Human Brain.
A person who studies the brain is called a neuroscientist.

Visit Flickr. I put brain in the search bar and found lots of photos. I chose these for you to look at.
Max told us this week that a walnut looks like a brain. Do you agree?
Did you know that there is a type of coral called brain coral?

Looking After Our Brain

Looking after your brain
Your brain is protected inside your skull but could still be damaged if your head is hit or bumps into something hard.
* Always wear a helmet if you are riding a bike, scooter or skateboard.
* Always wear a helmet for sports where you could be hit or fall, eg skiing, snowboarding or horse-riding .
* Never dive into water unless you know how deep it is. (Your brain should let you know that this is not a smart thing to do.)
Apart from making sure that you don’t injure your brain, you can also make sure that you help your brain by:
¶ Eating healthy food like fish and fresh vegetables.
¶ Exercising your brain by learning new things and trying to remember them.
¶ Getting plenty of sleep.

The Brain

This is a sheep brain!

As well as the Internet, we used books to explore the brain.
We surfed, slurped and summarised information and then wrote explanations about the 3 main parts of the brain- the cerebrum, cerebellum and the brain stem. We labelled the parts of a brain diagram as well.

The Brain - Thinker Keys

This week we have explored the brain through the Info Key, the Commonality Key, the Improvements Key and the Rubrics Key. The keys help develop our thinking.

Tomorrow some of our writing about the cerebrum, cerebellum and brain stem will be published.

The Brain

Over the past two days we have been using the thinking keys to explore the brain.
We have used the...
Question Key
Brainstorming Key
Perspectives Key
Graphics Key

What a variety of thinking we got!!
It just shows what you can do when you use your brain! We recorded our ideas on IWB flip chart. Tomorrow we hope to explore the Matrix Key.
