Technology - Making Chinese Lanterns

Today we made Chinese lanterns. These lanterns had a wire frame which was really hard to make. A big thank you to the parents who came along to help. Once the frame was made we taped the ends where the joins were. We then glued tissue paper or cellophane over the wire frame and added Chinese symbols and icons. We had set criteria to assess our lanterns against. Here is the criteria
1. Be hollow
2. Be covered in transparent or translucent material that does not melt
3. Be aesthetically pleasing and colourful
4. Reflect aspects of Chinese culture
5. Have a handle to hang it
